A yummy treat!

The Victoria Sketch Club extends its most hearty congratulations to our own Christine Gollner, as she is the recipient of a significant local commission. Roger's Chocolates, established in Victoria in 1885, has chosen Christine's painting "Waterfront Ride" as the design for its annual holiday chocolate box! Pictured below, this charming painting shows a classic Inner Harbour scene, complete with water taxi, ducks and even orcas.  (top photo)

Christine would like to thank fellow VSC member Bonnie Myers for suggesting that Roger's might be interested in her iconic Victorian scene for their annual holiday chocolate tins.

This is not the first time that a VSC member has been the recipient of this local tradition. Several years ago, our own Victor Lotto designed not only a holiday chocolate box for Roger's, but also a note card depicting the heritage designated flagship Roger's shop on Government Street: a historic Victoria landmark known for its Queen Anne Revival architecture. (bottom photos)

We are all hoping that a large box of Roger's chocolates will arrive at the Windsor Park Pavilion for one of our Tuesday sessions so that we can all share in the sweetness of local life here in our beautiful city!

The Art Story: This covers many artists and art movements. It includes a timeline and discusses artists lives and works. It is the best site of its kind that I have come across at this point. ~ Ken
